CLOSED: Calling all First Nations artists
As part of the Geelong Arts Centre Little Malop Street Redevelopment, an exciting design opportunity has been launched for First Nations artists to create public artworks to be integrated into the design of the new building.
Key locations have been identified to incorporate First Nations artworks within the building’s design enabling audiences and communities to be the beneficiaries of this vibrant vision for an arts centre, set proudly on the global stage.
Up to four First Nations artists will have the opportunity to create either sound or visual works that reflects the significant Indigenous connection to Country, history and culture of the region. Submissions must be considerate and respectful of Wadawurrung Traditional Owners’ cultural rights and responsibilities.
The vision for the completed Little Malop Street redevelopment is bold and places artists, community and creatives within the creative heart of Geelong.
The completed Geelong Arts Centre will be a significant step in the cultural revitalisation of the city – a reposition from its manufacturing past to a knowledge and culturally based future as a UNESCO-acknowledged city of design, reconciliation & representation.
